Hello there, just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the fuel pump on their discovery 3 TDV6? The engine in mine caught fire and destroyed the front of the car. Landrover admitted that there was a problem with the fuel pump and are willing to replace the car under warranty. Only thing is that they are offering a brand new ex stock
Going back to TD5 days, you need to do the TD5 test. Find a suitable "catch can".ie any 300ml softdrink bottle and cable tie it in a position with the overflow bottle discharge in its neck. If you are catching coolant here, replace the coolant cap and pray hard.If its not the cap it can only be a head gasket. GOODLUCK.
Problem started at about 240,000kms returning from Arnhem Land, initially erratic but now every 1-2kms. Also problem occurs around Perth at low speed and at high speed or cruise control. Initially got some relief of several thousand km when I started or drove in Sports Mode, but now nothing helps.

The TD6 is vacuum operated. I replaced a faulty map sensor, a dodgy actuator solenoid valve and a turbo pipe that had split.
1. Oil Starvation. The most commonly reported issue for Land Rover 3.0 SDV6 and TDV6 engines is Oil Starvation, which can result in parts that are not properly lubricated and suffer abnormally high wear and tear. It can even result in outright breakage if not caught soon enough.
